Indee Ultimate Stats Blitz - B Mods and SportMods

After the Pro Stocks were removed from the schedule following the 2003 season, the B Mods were added in 2004. They ran unsanctioned for four seasons before being I.M.C.A.-sanctioned at the start of the 2008 season. Below is a year-by-year recap of both divisions. Statistics following the yearly recap are separated for the B Mods and SportMods.

2004
Kurt Roose won the first-ever B Mod feature on May 1 and followed it up with a second straight win on May 8 for the first two of his division-high five wins that season. It was also the only time a driver earned back-to-back wins that year. Joe Docekal broke Roose's winning streak on the third week for his first of three feature wins, en route to the division's first track championship. Docekal wrapped up his title run with a win on championship night. Dan Feltus joined Roose and Docekal as the only other multi-race winner. Feltus also scored three wins that year. Other winners included Johnathan Thimmesch, Jon Wilhelmi, Craig Cordes and Don White over the course of the inaugural 15-week season.

2005
Docekal kicked off the 2005 season in victory lane, as well, with an opening night win. He was the first of four different winners to start the year. Other winners that first month included John Bates, Brett Root and Brian Kunkle. Root broke the streak of new winners in week five as he was the first to repeat. He eventually won three races that year. Week six winner Johnathan Thimmesch reeled off four victories in an eight week span while Joe Docekal picked up two more wins along the way. Tony Olson also made his first trip to victory lane in late July. Kunkle made a late surge that year by winning the final three races of the season. Kip Siems, however, came out on top in the final standings to earn the track title, despite no trips to victory lane.

2006
Kunkle kept his hot streak alive to start the 2006 season by scoring wins in the first three features of the year. Docekal and Kunkle then alterated wins over the next three weeks before Bates and Alan Wessels nabbed wins. Brett Ladehoff earned three wins in a row late in the season, just prior to championship night. In the finale, Docekal took top honors, but fell short in the final standings by 45 to Kunkle, who earned his first title.

2007
Docekal looked to become the first repeat champion in the B Mods by reeling off four straight wins to start the season. Olson broke Docekal's streak one week later, then proceeded to score four wins in five weeks to tighten the battle at the top. Along with a win during Olson's dominant month, Josh Sherbon scored a win late in the year as five consecutive winners visited the winner's circle to close out the season. Other winners during the stretch included Josh Steere, Kyle Bentley, Marty Rouse and Docekal on championship night. Olson edged Docekal in the final standings by around a dozen points to become the fourth different titlist in as many seasons the divison competed at Independence.

2008
The division was sanctioned with I.M.C.A. starting in 2008 transforming it to the I.M.C.A. SportMods. A windstorm that destroyed the grandstands in the spring delayed the start of the season. Josh Sherbon won the division's first feature during the June 21 season opener. He tacked on two more wins later in the season to nab three overall that season. Danny Dvorak also scored three wins to propel him to the track championship by 17 markers ahead of Docekal, who earned one win in 2008. Other winners included Kyle Bentley and Jim Buhlman, who scored his win on championship night. Buhlman, Sherbon and Bentley completed the top five in the final standings. Kaleb Bentley, Mary Handberg, Kevin Robinson, Scott Thomas and Rouse completed the top 10.

2009
Sherbon scored his second straight season opening win to start the 2009 season. The following week, Dvorak earned the first of his division-leading four wins that year. Rookie Chris Luloff became the division's only back-to-back winner the following two weeks. He picked up three wins overall. Austin Kaplan and Joel Rust were other multi-time winners with Rust scoring the championship night victory. Other winners included Kurt Hogan and Lucas Lundry, who earned their first wins in the division. Kyle Bentley and Buhlman entered the final night separated by only one point. Bentley beat Buhlman by two positions in the final event to take the points title by a single point. In doing so, Bentley became the sixth different champion in the six seasons the B Mods/SportMods competed at Independence.
